Hello followers! Today I'm going to comment one historical photo.
In the left, I can see two or three egiptian pyramids in the background.
While, in the centre, I can see a group of 25 samurais stair-positioned on the Great Sphynx of Giza (Egypt).
This photo was get by Antonio Beato (brother of the famous photographer Felice Beato) when the samurais was going to Paris and they decided stopping in Egypt for a brief cultural visit.
The expedition to Paris was the second Embassy of Japan in the 19th century. In this diplomatic relationship with France, It attempts to close the dock of Yokohama to foreign trade. It was part of the then Japanese Emperors desire to close the country to Western influence, and return to sakoku status. It failed, I mean there wasn't much chance that late 1800s Japan could influence much, they still needed a few decades (hey there Russia).
I hope that you will like this article.
See you soon,
Ori.
